Maple, yellow pine, teak, and oak are commonly used as hardwood floors because they are more suitable for wear and tear. They may require finisheses such as oil, wax, or polyurethane.


MAPLE

There are aprox. 200 species of maple. They can be found in North America, Europe, and Northeast Asia. Their woods are mostly used in construction and furniture. Maple sugar and syrup are made from these trees also.


TEAK

Can grow to a height of 150 ft. They are found in India, Thailand, Burma, Philippines, Central America, and Africa. The leaves look simular to tobacco leaves. The wood is used to make fine furniture, bridges, and ships.
